The Politics of Fear-Who's really afraid?

As I listened to Sen. Obama's outrageous monologue, I had to hit my keys here and just at least write out the many reasons that Barack Obama is a complete novice when it comes to foreign policy-and why he is a complete and absolute whimp.  If anyone listened to this speech who has a clue about history, and the world as it is, they know that the problem in the world right now is I-R-A-N, plain and simple, without question.  First, Sen. Obama shows how 'tough' he is by stating, "I have never said I would talk to Hamas, Hezbollah, or Al Queda.  Really? Good for you.  But, he then states, "I would talk directly with Iran."  Here's the problem: HAMAS AND HEZBOLLAH WORK FOR IRAN!  Someone might say, "Aha, I got you, how about Al Queda?"  Gee, haven't heard from them in awhile...oh, yea, that's because our military has them in some crag in Afghanistan wondering how they are going to stay relevant.   Meanwhile, Iranian rockets rained down on Askheldon yesterday and Iranian weapons are staging a military takeover of Israel's neighbor, Lebanon.  So, let's look at the scorecard folks-Iran funds Hezbollah's assault on Israel's northern neighbor, and the Iranian-funded Palestineans squeeze Israel's belt in the middle and fire rockets at it...and Sen. Obama has the audacity to say he'd have lunch with their boss? Not very becoming of an American president.

What I think is interesting also is how Sen. Obama is 'reacting' to the comments that drew a standing ovation at the Kenesset.  First off, he takes something that didn't even have his name in it, and puts his name in it.  "I will engage President Bush and John McCain in a debate about foreign policy anywhere, anytime, any place.  Bring it on."  Those are certainly fighting words, but it's obvious Barack Obama has never been in a fistfight in his life.  For those of us that have, we understand a fundamental principle-don't start stuff, and there won't be any stuff.   Sen Obama might as well have walked up to the Big Show and jumped in his face to talk trash.  The problem is, Sen Obama is weaker on this issue than any other, and would lose miserably to John McCain when it comes to foreign policy in the eyes of the American people.  People like myself who have been in a fistfight understand something--a bully needs a punch in the nose before he will listen to what you have to say.  I have many friends that I whacked a few times before they decided to find out I was a good guy.  Historically, this is what took place in our history--we whacked Britain around, and then they wanted to start trading cotton instead of cannonballs.  We whooped up on the Mexicans and Spanish and then they decided they would sign NAFTA and send workers over.  We wiped out both Germany and Japan, and now they are some of our strongest allies.  Common thread? We had to gain their respect and get rid of their psychotic leaders for them to understand who we were.  This has been the consistent foreign policy of this country, not going in and sitting down with our enemies first, and this is what Sen. Obama has said he would do.

So, does Sen. Obama really want this fight with those who have practiced the real constant foreign policy of the US--show the respect we deserve and then we'll talk?  I don't think he really wants that---he's just like the little guy on the playground who challenges the big guy to a fight and then gets whooped and tells everyone 'yea, I'm not afraid of him, see me fight him?," and this is exactly what he wants--to look like he can fight a war--against a lame duck president who never batted an eye when members of his party called the President 'A rogue Cowboy' and 'Practicing gunboat diplomacy', and the man who will be his opponent in the fall.  Only problem is, he keeps putting up his fists while trying to keep his nerd glasses on his nose.

Obama calls what George Bush said 'the politics of fear."  My question is, who is really afraid?  I think I know, and he won't keep his rose-colored glasses on long if he decides to get into this fight--bring it on, wimp!
